New to My Etsy Shop – Pillow Flight!

If you haven’t checked out my Etsy shop lately, please click on the link and give it a look, okay? In addition to a fun and funky collection of vintage housewares, I’ve added a section called “Pillow Flight,” which features bespoke accent pillows handcrafted by yours truly.

Each pillow even comes with a “BOHO HOME by Susan” twill label, neatly sewn into the underside hem of the back envelope overlap.

I make all my pillows with a generous envelope-style, overlapped panel back, rather than zippers, for easy change-out with no catching and no worry that you’ll break the zipper. Sometimes the backs are different coordinating prints than the front, like the one above…

…which looks like this on the front side. I DO love that singing bird!

Other times the back uses the same fabric on the front. It all depends on what fabric I have, how much I have, and, most importantly, what inspires me. I LOVE mixing fabrics, so if that’s something you fret over, just buy my pillows and leave the heavy lifting up to me!

One thing all my pillows DO have in common is handmade embellishment. The tassel shown here is store-bought, but the rosette it hangs on is handcrafted right down to the covered button, which sports the same purple ikat as the custom-covered cording on the pillow edges.

All of which is to say, you won’t find anything like these in a regular store. Many have my signature frayed rosette trims made from fabrics either in the pillow or coordinating.

Here’s a closer look. Very few scraps are too small to save and utilize in embellishment some how, some way. And the frayed look is so delicate and pretty without being twiddly.

This pillow, made from vintage fabric, has THREE frayed rosettes, centered with vintage buttons.

However, sadly for you but happily for me, this one is sold. It was my very first pillow sale and came within just a few days of adding the Pillow Flight section to my store.

This cutie has frayed trim, too, but flaunts it in a different way.

It’s in that little ruff spanning the seam between the two fabrics. I love the vibrant but cool Scandi prints in this one. And check out the snappy buttons on each corner!

This dapper guy features hand-embroidered seams along the front, as well as matching yarn pompons on each corner.

The one on the left (a personal favorite) features colorful striped wool pompons on each corner, while the one on the right sports velvet buttons.

Some even have beaded trim.

Here’s a closeup.

Fabrics are all drapery or upholstery weight, designer or high-end from famous makers. Often I find a batch of remnants that includes the same print in different colorways, as in these two pillows, each of which wears a Vern Yip for Trend chinoiserie print.

In fact, no two pillows are exactly alike, even when they share the same or similar fabrics…

Unless I happen to have enough fabric to create a matching set. But even these aren’t EXACTLY alike. While they’re cut from the same fabrics, they’re cut at different points in the design. These particular pillows feature Ralph Lauren Maribel fabric on top and a crewelwork linen on bottom and back, and though they “match,” you see the slight variation.

If you want more…

By all means, dash on over to my store RIGHT NOW, browse to your heart’s content, favorite your favorites, and buy, Buy, BUY!

To make it a tad easier, here’s a gallery of what’s available at the time of this writing, conveniently linked to each pillow’s Etsy listing:

Remember that I add stock frequently, so be sure to check the entire Pillow Flight page for everything that’s available. And, of course, when something sells, it’s gone, because all are one (maybe two) of a kind.

And don’t get sooooooooo lost in pillows that you forget to check out my other Etsy store departments, arranged and named for optimum FUN:
