Boho Home Décor on $5 Budget + Quiz

A budget of $5 per décor ITEM, that is.

Wow! Chris wouldn’t mind my home décor shopping addiction NEARLY as much if I limited myself to $5 per item and found some bargains like those snapped up by homeowner Amy Lind. @bohosusan

Bet you can’t guess which items in her Savannah, GA, living room meet that criteria. But if you pick up a copy of the January/February 2017 HGTV Magazine from your newstand and flip to page 90, it’s all spelled out for you. @bohosusan

The charming but unassuming outside of this ivy-covered cottage has more than a few surprises in store. To begin with, you’d never guess that behind the storied façade of this 1930s brick bungalow hides more than 2,200 square feet of living space.

But more about that later…

Let’s take another look at that living room first! @bohosusan

How many $5 bargains did you guess right? I want to know EXACTLY where the owner found that dynamite trunk for $5, don’t you? I think I’m shopping in the wrong places.

The dining room isn’t included in the online tour, but the magazine has it covered, with bargains clearly marked… @bohosusan

I LOVE how the flat-weave rug is layered over the grass rug. And doesn’t all the orange and green look spring-like?

How many of the remaining $5 bargains can you find in the rest of this house?

I’ll give you the item names plus a hint or two.
You see if you can find which room they belong to
by studying the photos.

In the kitchen with 7 + 1 = 8 @bohosusan

For instance, in the two photos of the kitchen (above and below) there are seven $5 finds and one freebie, found on the street. Love the bold orange-striped runner, don’t you? You also catch a glimpse of the corner on an old worktable the homeowner bought from a going-out-of-business store that had used it for display. @bohosusan

Here’s another partial view of the same worktable. All the dents and paint drips add to its character. And while the homeowner doesn’t prep food on it because of these “imperfections” it still works great for storage and display, as you can see. The phrenology print is another fun and quirky addition.

2 x 3 = 6 master suite finds @bohosusan

The master bedroom (above) and master bath combined sport six $5 finds, not to mention terrific pops of cheery yellow to wake you up in the morning and get you moving. @bohosusan

Those cubbies are a stylist’s (and a homeowner’s) dream. And the butter yellow pairs so beautifully with the crisp black and white.

5 + 1 = 6 surprises for guests @bohosusan

Six finds in the guest room, including a freebie found on the street. Can you guess them all?

I adore all the layered frames and mirrors in this room, which the homeowner says most resembles her “pre-marriage” decorating style.

3 + 3 = 6 for work and play @bohosusan

Three finds each in baby Forrest’s nursery (above) and momma Amy’s studio (below), which occupies renovated attic space. One of these six finds was also a freebie, found on the street. I love how this room looks so casual and kid-friendly but still stylish and put-together. The toys and books add their own playful punches of color against the white backdrop. @bohosusan

Oh, if only my workspace looked this tidy (AND had skylights)! Is it too weird to covet artists’ brushes?
