Mobiles = ‘Moving’ Boho Home Decor

Like wind chimes, mobiles never cease to fascinate the boho poet in me (my alter-ego). After all, wind chimes kinda-sorta lend a voice to the air, or the breezes, while mobiles make the subtle movement of air visible—kinda-sorta like giving it a body.

A wind chime never repeats the exact same melody (or conversation!), and a mobile never resumes the exact same position. I could listen to and watch both all day long. And if I did, I’d be so mellow I’d say yes to most anything. I might even stay calm while talking to my health care provider.

Ahem. Anyway—

I don’t remember how I stumbled across the mobiles of British designer Miranda Watkins, but I remain captivated by their geometry and how their overall shape changes as they react to air movement and the magnetic pull of the earth. They are truly art—a kind of kinetic sculpture.

Any single one—and certainly all seven styles in varying colors and sizes—would be a welcome addition to your boho, midcentury modern, or contemporary home. Not to mention that concentrating on their subtle movement is a meditation topped only by a spa day.
